Partners:
John J. Saracena, CPA
John J. Saracena joined the firm in 1973 and became a Partner with Barnes, Saly & Company, LLP in 1982. During his tenure, John has provided audit, tax and management services over a significant range of operations. He currently serves clients in non-profit, municipal and governmental agencies, mining, banking, manufacturing, construction, retail and medical operations, as well as a variety of other organizations. He is responsible for tax planning, research and compliance for individual, partnership and corporate tax returns. He has experience representing taxpayers in IRS examinations as well as at the state and local taxing levels. John has performed accounting and review services in connection with initial public stock offerings and has performed due diligence examinations regarding multi-million dollar business acquisitions and mergers.
Mr. Saracena has been a CPA in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania since 1976 and is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). He is a member of both the Accounting and Auditing Procedures and the Local Government Accounting and Auditing committees of the PICPA. He is also a member of the Consultation and Tax Divisions of the AICPA. He has a B.S. in accounting from St. Francis College, and has continued his education through participation in many continuing professional education programs.

Terence A. Shook, CPA
Terry Shook joined Barnes, Saly & Company in 1984 after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. He became a partner of the Firm in 1993. Mr. Shook has diverse experience in all phases of public accounting. He has provided audit, tax and management consulting services to a wide range of individuals and business operations, and has represented both businesses and individuals in IRS examinations. He has served clients in non-profit organizations, real estate development, governmental organizations, school districts, hospitality and hotels, banking, retail, mining, and a variety of other organizations. Terry has also performed accounting and review services in connection with initial public stock offerings and has performed due diligence examinations regarding multi-million dollar business acquisitions and mergers.
Mr. Shook is a certified public accountant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Accountants (AICPA) and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). He is a member of the State Not-for-Profit and the State Accounting and Auditing Procedure Committees of the PICPA, as well as a licensed investment company representative in the state of Pennsylvania.

James V. Saly, CPA (Deceased - April 30, 2005)
Mr. James V. Saly, CPA founded Barnes, Saly & Company, LLP in Johnstown as an office of the Pittsburgh firm Barnes and Company in 1950. Under his 52 years of direction and guidance, the Firm grew and prospered to what it is today. Through the years, Mr. Saly not only lent his numerous talents to the firm, but also to several civic organizations, foundations, and charities in the Greater Johnstown area. Mr. Saly retired as a full-time Partner in late 2002, but he continued to work on a part-time basis as a Consultant. He was a respected businessman and advisor and is sadly missed by many.

Kevin Kroskie, CPA
Kevin F. Kroskie, CPA, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting after graduating cum laude from Saint Francis University in 1984. He has been a certified public accountant since 1988. He is a Manager with Barnes, Saly & Company, LLP and has extensive experience in public accounting.
Mr. Kroskie has obtained diversified experience in all phases of public accounting. He has provided audit, tax and management consulting services to a wide range of individuals and business operations, including clientele in non-profit, governmental, banking, retail, mining, manufacturing, and a variety of other organizations. His experience includes preparation of individual, corporation, partnership and non-profit income tax returns and Medicaid and Medicare cost reports for the long-term care industry. Mr. Kroskie has continued his education through participation in many continuing professional education programs provided by various professional organizations and has also been a discussion leader in numerous programs of continuing education. He is also a member of the AICPA.

Corina Long, CPA
Corina Long brings her audit, accounting, and tax experience to Barnes, Saly & Company. During her years in public accounting, she has provided services to various clients, including state and local government units, such as School Districts and Municipal Authorities, Pension Audits and not-for-profit organizations. Mrs. Long's experience with these organizations includes financial and compliance auditing in accordance with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circulars A-122 and A-133. She also has experience in large for-profit corporations while working for Grant Thornton in mid-town Manhattan.
Corina received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Saint Francis College in 1997, her CPA designation in 2003, and her Masters of Business Administration from Saint Francis University in May of 2008. She has continued her education through participation in many continuing professional education seminars provided by various professional organizations, which include topics dealing with governmental units and not-for-profit organizations receiving federal, state and local government funding.

Samantha R. Brothers
Samantha Brothers is a staff accountant with Barnes, Saly & Company, LLP. She has over two years experience in public accounting, as well as two years experience in the private sector. Her experience has involved a wide range of clientele including individuals, partnerships, non-profit, corporations, manufacturing, retail, and a variety of other organizations. Samantha's services to these various organizations include all areas of public accounting including audit and tax accounting.
Samantha received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 2001 with Cum Laude Honors and participates in various continuing professional education programs.

Nicole L. Molnar
Nicole joined Barnes, Saly & Company, LLP as a staff accountant with over 3 years of public accounting experience. Her experience has involved auditing for government entities and private companies as well as tax accounting for individuals, non-profit organizations and small corporations.
Ms. Molnar is a 2002 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and participates in various continuing professional education programs. She was also recognized as a member of Phi Eta Sigma, the freshman National Honor Society.

Kathryn E. Stom
Kathryn E. Stom is a staff accountant with Barnes, Saly & Company, LLP. Her experience has involved a wide range of clientele including individual, corporations, non-profit, mining, and school districts. Miss Stom's services to these various organizations include all areas of public accounting including audit and tax accounting.
She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 2005 with Cum Laude Honors and participates in various continuing professional education programs.

Mary Blackford
Mary has been with Barnes, Saly & Company since March 2000, but has worked in the accounting/payroll/tax return industry since 1986. She works with various types of clients, including sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations, and is responsible for payroll entry, in both live payrolls and after-the-fact payrolls. In addition to her payroll work, Mary also handles tax preparation and delivery, sales tax preparation, posting of income and disbursements for general ledger and financial statement preparation. She earned an Associates Degree in Specialized Business from Cambria Rowe Business College in March, 1986.
Diane Miller
Diane has been with Barnes, Saly & Company since 1992. She has held a variety of positions within the Firm, and currently works on payroll and tax preparation and general bookkeeping. Her client base is varied, having served all types of clients. Diane attended Cambria Rowe Business College, receiving an Associate's in Specialized Business Degree.
Jennifer L. Paxton
Jennifer currently works on payroll, tax preparation and general bookkeeping. Her client base includes sole proprietors and corporations. She is a designated QuickBooks Pro Advisor having earned her certificate in 2007. Ms. Paxton attended Cambria Rowe Business College, receiving an Associate's in Specialized Business Degree with honors.
Lynn Rovan
Lynn came aboard in March of 2000 after the firm she was with was acquired by Barnes, Saly & Company. She had been with that company since 1977, so she has spent numerous years in the business. Her areas of concentration and responsibilities are varied, and include payroll and the preparation of payroll reports and compilation of financial statements. Lynn also performs in-house accounting for a local entity, preparing checks, payroll and deposits and prepares financial statements and budget reports. She is a Quickbooks Pro Advisor and assists a large number of our clients with their databases.

Rebecca R. Berkey, Administrative Manager
Administrative Manager Becky Berkey joined Barnes, Saly & Company in 2002. She is responsible for overseeing all administrative functions and office staff. Her daily workload includes client billing, meeting and greeting clients in person and by phone, marketing, employee relations and assisting the Partners. Becky received an Associate's in Specialized Business Degree from Cambria Rowe Business College and is a Certified Notary Public.

Geoffrey Tirpak, Computer Manager
Geoff has been with Barnes, Saly & Company since January 1983. During his tenure, he has worked with various computer systems, and has overseen the conversion of the Firm's data several times, including the most recent conversion to the Microsoft Windows XP/Windows NT Server LAN environment. He is also responsible for the Firm's network, hardware, software, and peripheral equipment maintenance. Geoff also has administrative duties, including client billing.

Carol Brugette
Administrative Supervisor Carol Brugette has been with Barnes, Saly & Company since 1965. During her extensive employment with the firm, she has been responsible for maintaining client files, assembling audit statements and tax returns, client communication, and other varied administrative duties.
